Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to unveil an all-new experience in 2026 that will transport guests directly into the heart of Disney animation. Inspired by the beloved Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio, this immersive new attraction – The Magic of Disney Animation – will breathe life into the characters and creativity that define Disney storytelling.

Stepping Into the World of Animation

The new experience will take over the current Star Wars: Launch Bay space, reimagining it as a tribute to Walt Disney Animation Studios. Topped with Mickey’s iconic Sorcerer Hat – a nod to the real Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank – this reimagined space will become a playground for animation lovers of all ages.

In this whimsical world, the story begins after the animators have stepped away for a break. But the magic doesn’t stop – in fact, it comes alive! Guests will find themselves in an animated version of a bustling studio, where beloved Disney characters have taken over and are inviting everyone to join the fun.

Interactive Adventures for the Whole Family

From interactive department-themed areas to animated portraits that spring to life, every corner of The Magic of Disney Animation will offer a unique experience. Guests can enjoy a creatively twisted short film, take part in drawing sessions to sketch their own characters, and even meet a variety of familiar Disney friends in vibrant character greetings.

Young children will especially love the Drawn to Wonderland indoor playground. Inspired by Mary Blair’s original concept art for Alice in Wonderland, this play area features a blooming oversized flower garden, whimsical musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration zone. It’s designed to spark imagination and curiosity in even the littlest visitors.

A Full Courtyard Transformation

But the magic doesn’t stop at the building’s doors. The entire Animation Courtyard will be transformed into The Walt Disney Studios, drawing architectural inspiration from Disney’s real-life Burbank campus. This updated courtyard will include lush green spaces where families can relax, snack, and possibly spot animated surprises in the trees and grass.

The area will continue to feature The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure in its rebranded Studio Theater, while a brand-new Disney Jr. stage show is also on the way.
